Test your
Myeloperoxidase (MPO)

Looking for an easy way to test and monitor your Myeloperoxidase (MPO)?
It's included in the HealthieOne Disease-Specific test.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO)

Explanation: Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an enzyme produced by white blood cells that plays a role in the body's immune response. In certain autoimmune conditions, the immune system mistakenly creates antibodies against MPO, leading to inflammation and damage in small blood vessels, particularly affecting organs like the kidneys and lungs. When these cells detect an invader or inflammation, they release MPO to help destroy harmful organisms through a process that creates powerful bleach-like substances.

Test Purpose:

  • Assess inflammation in blood vessels, as elevated MPO levels may indicate active damage or stress in the cardiovascular system.
  • Evaluate risk for cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, particularly in individuals with suspected or known heart disease.
  • Support early detection of vascular inflammation before structural damage becomes apparent.
