Test your
Apolipoprotein A1
Looking for an easy way to test and monitor your Apolipoprotein A1?
It's included in the HealthieOne Disease-Specific test.
Apolipoprotein A1
Explanation: Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) is the primary protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), often referred to as "good cholesterol." ApoA1 plays a critical role in reverse cholesterol transport, a process where cholesterol is removed from tissues and transported to the liver for excretion. Higher levels of ApoA1 are associated with a lower risk of heart disease caused by cholesterol buildup in the arteries. Conversely, low levels may indicate an increased risk (especially in the presence of an elevated apolipoprotein B (Apo-B) level) and can be associated with certain genetic conditions, such as Tangier disease.
Test Purpose:
- Evaluate the risk of heart disease caused by cholesterol buildup in the arteries.
- Aid in the detection of genetic disorders affecting lipid metabolism, such as Tangier disease.
- Monitor the effectiveness of lipid-altering therapies.
- Assess individuals with a family history of coronary artery disease or other risk factors.
