Test your
Oxalate

Looking for an easy way to test and monitor your Oxalate?
It's included in the HealthieOne Disease-Specific test.

Oxalate

Explanation: Oxalate is a natural compound found in many plant-based foods, such as spinach, nuts, and tea. It is also produced by the body as a waste product. Under normal conditions, oxalate is filtered by the kidneys and passed out in urine. However, when oxalate levels become too high, it can bind with calcium to form crystals, potentially leading to kidney stones. Gastrointestinal diseases that cause poor fat absorption can lead to higher absorption of oxalate from food, leading to increased risk of oxalate buildup.

Test Purpose:

  • Identify conditions that lead to increased oxalate production in the body or excessive absorption from food.
  • Assess the risk or presence of kidney stones, particularly those composed of calcium oxalate.
  • Guide dietary recommendations for people prone to calcium oxalate kidney stones
  • Monitor patients with known disorders of oxalate metabolism such as primary hyperoxaluria.
