Explanation: 3-Hydroxy-octadecenoylcarnitine is a compound produced during the breakdown of unsaturated fatty acids. It plays a role in energy metabolism. High levels in the blood may point to fatty acid oxidation disorders, such as long-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCHAD) deficiency.
