Tetradecadienoylcarnitine

Explanation: Tetradecadienoylcarnitine is a compound naturally produced in the body during the breakdown of fatty acids for energy. Elevated levels indicate very long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (VLCAD) deficiency, an inherited disorder where long-chain fatty acids cannot be metabolized, leading to metabolic crises due to lack of adequate energy supply.

Test Purpose: Detect very long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (VLCAD) deficiency.
