Cholesterol VLDL
Explanation: Very Low-Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) is a type of cholesterol particle produced by your liver that carries fats (triglycerides) through your bloodstream to tissues that need energy. Think of VLDL as a delivery truck that transports fat from your liver to the rest of your body. As VLDL particles deliver their cargo, your body breaks them down into other cholesterol particles, including LDL cholesterol.
Test purpose: VLDL levels help assess cardiovascular risk and fat metabolism.
- Monitor risk for heart disease and stroke.
- Evaluate how well your body processes dietary fats.
- Identify metabolic disorders like diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
