Test your
Haptoglobin

Looking for an easy way to test and monitor your Haptoglobin?
It's included in the HealthieOne Disease-Specific test.

Haptoglobin

Explanation: Haptoglobin is a protein made by the liver that acts like a cleanup crew in the blood. It grabs onto hemoglobin—the oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells—when those cells break open and spill their contents. It’s like a magnet that catches loose hemoglobin and hauls it to the liver to be recycled, keeping it from causing trouble in the kidneys or blood vessels.

Test Purpose:

  • Identify if red blood cells are breaking down too quickly, which can lead to anemia.
  • Assist in detecting types of anemia, especially those caused by the immune system attacking red blood cells.
  • Evaluate liver function, as the liver produces haptoglobin.
