Test your
Homocystine

Looking for an easy way to test and monitor your Homocystine?
It's included in the HealthieOne Disease-Specific test.

Homocystine

Explanation: Homocystine is a form of homocysteine measured in the HealthieOne Complete panel. Homocystine accumulates in the body when there is too much homocysteine because the body lacks an enzyme that it needs to metabolize homocysteine properly. Elevated homocystine can lead to cardiovascular complications.

Test purpose: A homocystine blood test helps assess:

  • Cardiovascular risk, since high homocystine levels can contribute to blood vessel damage and an increased risk of clots (thrombosis).
  • Nutritional deficiencies, particularly in vitamin B6, B12, and folate, which are necessary for proper homocysteine metabolism.
  • Detect Cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS) deficiency (classical homocystinuria).
